Branam Foundation

Food Banks

The U.S. population includes an estimated 50 million food-insecure persons.

An estimated 1 in 5 children live in a food-insecure household. Our nation has developed a robust network of well over 60,000 locations that distribute food at no cost to food-insecure persons.

Dr. Branam is intimately familiar with the oral health practices and problems of food-insecure families, especially children. Families who seek out food banks usually cannot afford professional dental care. It is the aim of the Foundation to provide free-of-charge toothpaste and toothbrushes to these persons through food banks.

This distribution will be available to the entire family and will benefit the entire family. Only fluoride-free products are to be distributed.

Educational materials in both English and Spanish will be provided, as proper brushing techniques significantly enhance the effectiveness of a healthy oral care routine. Based on upon the Foundation’s research and projections, these cost-effective distribution programs—particularly through food banks—will lead to a substantial reduction in cavities and a measurable improvement in overall oral health.
The Foundation is seeking funding for this purpose.
